They're Here!

Staff Training has begun!

All the employee searches, applications, and references and interviews and paperwork are behind us, After months of work, planning and selection the Summer Staff of 2014 have finally all assembled together in one place.

And lucky for us, that place happens to be camp.

Abe Lincoln said if you gave him six hours to chop down a tree, he'd spend the first four hours sharpening the axe.  And that's what Staff Training is. (Only forget four hours! We've got a whole week to work on it!)

Staff Training is the Counselors week as campers at summer camp, getting to know each other, learning to function as a team, developing tools and strategies for the summer, and mostly deciding all the awesome stuff they want to create here over their next two months at camp. It's one of my favorite things.

(We did an exercise called "True Colors" to figure out what kind of different personalities we had on camp...)

Our Orange Group are our classic loud, crazy and outrageous counselors.

Our Golds are always organized, put together, and responsible.

Our Greens are methodical, deep thinking problem solvers.

And our Blues are our caring, empathetic poets.

Put them all together and we've got a diverse camp staff who can handle anything thrown their way.

Plus, we learned everything needed to be a counselor with nothing more than an armful of balloons and a kickball!
