Our Very First Lantern Family BBQ

Those of us who love camp want as many campers as possible to experience the great things that happen here, and nothing helps us do that more than our Lantern Families. They're our campers and camp families who've recommended camp to friends and brought brand new campers to L.G. Cook for the 2014 season.

To say thanks, they got an invite to our first ever Lantern Barbecue last Saturday. The Lantern Campers got to stay after Session One pick-up, take an early afternoon Tillman's hike, and then their parents joined use for the festivities. Our very own kitchen made some terrific food, we hung out by the lake, played some lawn games, sampled some of our favorite camp classes, and even enjoyed some fantastic blue grass music.

Rare counselor/parent bonding.

We got ladder ball JUST for this event! But something tells me we'll find uses for it in the future. Because we love ladder ball.

Where did everyone get those snazzy not-available-in-camp-stores exclusive Lantern Family T-Shirts????

Front of the Dining Hall + A Dozen Hula Hoops + Summer Camp Staff = Hours and Hours of Entertainment.
Or we can make fun with nothing but a Frisbee and a garbage can. Camp is filled with the simple pleasures.

Those are a lot of legitimate smiles.

Of course we spent some time on the lake.

Lunch. (Kidding! We're catch and release. That fish has been caught a thousand times and keeps falling for the same ol' trick.)

Friendship bracelets by the lake.
Camp loves you too.

A family flag lowering.

We'll be hoping all of our Lantern Families renew their memberships next year by continuing to bring new campers to camp, and we hope you join them in spreading camp so then you can join US at the Summer 2015 Lantern BBQ.
