Session 2: BFI

Every Wednesday morning here at camp we haul out one of our highest-rated-campers-love-it-there'd-be-a-riot-if-we-didn't-play-it-every-single-week activity, BATTLE FOR THE ISLAND. The king of our all camp games, it's an all out full morning capture-the-flag tournament. The whole camp map is our stadium, it's divided into four territories and the strategic hunt for flags, mini-flags and gold begins. It's got it all: jails, attack plans, command centers, chants, songs, face paint, team work, courage, revenge, the thrill of victory, the great-sportsmanship lessons of defeat, and the ever present caution of not running full speed into any trees.

It's the most fun you can have on a Wednesday morning in America.

Or the most fun you can have with four different colored towels.

A territory ferociously defended by the Darcys.

The Beavers strike fear into the hearts of all.

Nothing is worse than being taken to Jail! Look how unhappy she is.

This is just a picture of a tree stump, and nothing but a tree stump.

The Majestic Jasper in his natural habitat.
The strategy: Don't let them steal our flag. Good plan, crew, good plan.

Teammates in the midst of battle. Very serious.

The Infirmary is a dismal place during the battle. Not a smile in sight.

Oh yeah! With all the capture the flagging I forgot this was pirate week.
