The Dinosaur in Lake Shawanni

We have many folks who dwell on camp during the summer, but none have been here longer than our resident sea monster. (Don't worry! He's a very very friendly sea monster.)
.
He is a legend, a mascot, a friend, and a wise lake-dwelling confidant.

His name is Velcro. (Presumably because of his mossy complexion. No body can remember who named him, it's been lost to camp history.)

He is estimated to be between the ages of 15 years old and 100 million years old.

Among all those other things, he's also a snapping turtle.

The first session of camp, every summer he migrates from the depths of Lake Shawanni to the Lakeside Shore to eat all the leftover breakfast sausage the fisher's use for bait.

He's so cool looking.

He loves leftover breakfast sausage. Loves it. Seriously, loves it. Think of the thing you love the most in this whole world. That's the way Velcro feels about leftover breakfast sausage.

Smiling for the camera.

He stays completely clear of the swimming area, and leaves the canoes and kayaks alone entirely. Why? Because they're too loud and he knows they're not carrying any leftover breakfast sausages at all.

Seriously. A beautiful, prehistoric creature in our very lake.
