Session IV: Cabin Life

So a lot of this blog, and a lot of all the talk we do about all the crazy stuff that happens during a Camp week can overlook one of the most central and crucial facts about Summer Camp.

The fact that we live simply live here. For a week.

In Cabins.

Cabins with equipped with little more than a floor, a ceiling, four walls, two-slamming-doors-we-beg-you-not-to-slam, 8 pairs of bunkbeds, fifteen other cabin mates, two counselors, and the perfect environment for 1951-style camaraderie, fun, and more memory making per-square-foot than any other structure in the state.

Here's a glimpse at Cabin life for ten pre-Battle for the Island minutes on a Wednesday morning in late July.

Looking to beat the heat? Lucky for you. Our cabins are in the shade.

Why sure, Lainie! We'd love to pop into Cabin #8.

Cozy.

Some battle tips from good historical fiction before capture the flag.

Proper attire is the key to Battle for the Island.

The age old question. To select the top bunk or bottom bunk?

And you can't capture any flags if your hair isn't prepped.

Counselors love consulting class lists, rosters, and schedules. They love it.

And that photo wasn't staged at ALL, was it Julia?

Cabin #8:
The hug capital of the world.

Good morning, ladies of Cabin #9.

What's better than hanging on the porch of Cabin #9?

Cabin #7 is renowned for keeping a clean porch.

Yup. Living the good life in Cabin #7.

Power Nap.

Let's move on up the ranks!

On to Cabin #11. And more hair preparation.

Another morning hangin' out in Cabin #11.

How good is it?

That good is it.

But it's only better with some tunes.

And some black-team red-team companionship before the game.

Don't worry! We wouldn't leave out the boys side of Camp.
Bug Spray. A camp necessity.

Getting ready to join the blue team.

That looks like a comfortable bunk.

Y'know what? So does that one.  They all look like comfortable bunks.

The intrepid gentleman of Cabin #5.

On to Cabin #4!

Oh. Forgot to mention. It's Ol' West Week.

Relaxing with Matty.

More comfortable bunks!

Cabin #4: Home of the smiles.

They're also the home of saying "hello."

And "yeah, Cabin #4, thumbs up."
All right, bye Cabin #4.

And 'Morning Cabin #3.

Some inter-cabin Frisbee.

Nice...catch? I think that's what's happening. A catch.

What're we focusing on Cabin #2?

An intense card game? Excellent.

Yup, it ain't so bad staying in the newest cabin on Camp.

And the view out the front window isn't half bad either.

And that's a handful of minutes in a handful of cabins at one Summer Camp on one warm July morning.

NEXT TIME:...More Camp?
