A Viking Viking Battle for the Viking Island

Seasons ago, we played Battle For the Island just once or twice a summer...but it quickly became the most popular game on Camp, and we now play it every single Wednesday morning all summer long. However, we only play VIKING Battle for the VIKING Island once. As you could guess, that one time happened during Viking Week.

Groups at Lakeside! Four sections of seating, four groups? What a coincidence.

Get pumped.

Natural woodland adversaries.

The Viking Viking Society's Lawyer, Jeff.

The ferocity required for BFI.

A friendlier version of that same ferocity.

The friendliest version.

The glory of victory, the green flag in his hand.

Yeah, that deserves a chant.

Sometimes it's all about psyching out the opposition.

Action shot!

Jail is a very sad place. (Though those sad faces actually look quite put upon to me...)

Epic in scale.

Though never too epic for a quick hello whilst sprinting.

Break time! Everyone drink your water. Hydration stations!

...and back to it.

Yup. This sum it up nicely.

Evasive maneuvers!

Run, Ryan!

No! Don't ever look back, Ryan!

I think the Red team got Tara during her time in jail.

The Viking Viking Elder arrived to close out the morning's festivities.

To sum it up, he was very very Viking Viking pleased.

NEXT TIME: It will probably be Session #2 for next time! Summer Camp is a busy place!

  1. Looks like a great event! Photos brought back memories.... tho in my day we had Mingos, Cherokees, Delaware and Shawnees when we lined up outside the dining hall...and we walked to Vesper Island each evening, after supper and before the evening activity.

    1. Thanks for stopping by the blog! We do Animal Groups now (and new this season the campers select which animal will represent their group), but don't worry! We still hike out to Vesper Island every night after dinner for a little introspection before we go back to the craziness of the evening activities...
