Snapshots from a Fall Family Hike Day

This Saturday was our first ever Fall Family Hike Day!

Our hikers were excited for a day in the woods!

Some dogs were excited for a day in the woods!

I was excited for a day in the woods! (This is what excitement looks like.)

We went over our various hike options...

And were ready to depart!

Our Beginner's Hike took a lovely stroll around Camp,

Exploring our very own 108 acre woods...

And enjoying some quality time...

Deep in the forest.

(But not so deep there's not a nice bench there waiting for you.)

Meanwhile: Our Advanced Hike had just scaled a mountain!

They enjoyed a great view on the Appalachian Trial...

Overlooking the North Jersey wilds, and all the way off into the distance in Pennsylvania.

They even partook in some spur of the moment sculpture building...

And of course we took advantage...

Of a good photo opportunity.

Our Beginner's Hike finished with a lap around the lake, and at the same time...

Our Advanced Hike was still...

Out there hiking!

Our Intermediate Hike returned from their lovely and adventurous stroll through Stokes Forest...

To hang out at Camp and reminisce of all the cool sights they saw.
Meanwhile: our Advanced Hike had just made it to our next scenic stop!

Buttermilk Falls!

The tallest waterfall in New Jersey!

We were even lucky that it hadn't rained lately...

Because  we got to see the unique and impressive rock formations that would usually be hidden by wild rushing water!

(Y'see, we're optimists on the advanced hike.)

We enjoyed a little break from our walk...

Relaxing by the cool water...

Checking out another great locale right in Camp's backyard.

Back at Camp, folks were enjoying an afternoon by the lake, complete with some fishing and canoeing.

And our patented serene lake view, of course.

And you know where our Advanced Hike was: still hiking!

Until finally, they returned victorious, making it all the way back to Camp safe and sound!

They weren't even too mad at me for making them walk so far.

We of course ended the evening with a campfire on the shore of  Lake Shawanni.

We enjoyed some s'mores that were well earned after an exerting day...

And some of our summer campers even started...

An impromptu Camp song sing-a-long,

Capping off a pretty great Autumn day.

Thanks to everyone who took a leap (or hike) of faith and joined us for this new event. We had a great time, and thanks to all your enthusiastic participation, we're already planning on seeing you again, next mid-September, for our second ever Fall Family Hike Day.
