A Trip to the COSMIC Fair

So, Session #3 at Camp is OUT OF THIS WORLD Week, and wouldn't you know that even though I promised the campers a relaxed week of stargazing and scientific interplanetary study, we accidentally discovered alien life at Camp along the way. (Things like that always seem to happen here!)

As we strive to discover more about our mysterious extraterrestrial friends, we thought it would be best to welcome them by throwing a COSMIC FAIR!

Wondering what attire you wear to a Cosmic Fair? This. This type of attire.

Cosmic fair! Sounds like that calls for Curtis to bring out the banjo. Though to be fair, we find that almost all events at Camp call for Curtis to bring out the Banjo.

There was Cosmic Lawn Bowling.

And if you think these smiles by the lake...

Look nice and pleasant...

Then you missed the Alien slime at their feet.

A constant Camp feature is our "Warm Fuzzies", friendly notes from camper to camper.

For friendly notes from Camper to Alien, however, it seems like "Warm Slimeys" would be more appropriate.

So we stuck our hands in some muck...

And wrote some letters of greeting...

To our new friends...

From outer space.

Cause who doesn't like new friends!?

No matter where they come from.

Aliens were also spotted floating in the lake...

And could only be rescued...

After some hula-hoop lasso-ing.

Saved another one.

Fun times for all at the Cosmic Fair.

Yes, there was an opportunity for everything at the Cosmic Fair.

You could even win your very own...

Little aqua alien.

And if you shot well enough...

You might just win two.

There was face paint! (Like any good fair.)

And Alien Artifact Creation.

(Like any good "Out of This World" Week.)

Donate that one to science, sir.

There was set 'em up...

And there was knock 'em down.

There was asteroid dodging!

And casual asteroid walking.

There were decorations on the buildings!
And there were plenty of celebration when Cosmic Fair prizes were won!

But wait? What were the prizes?!

Why, no Camp Fair is complete...

Without our standard prize...

Of drenching your counselor...

With buckets of water.
Staff here really do have the best jobs in the world.

A few campers even managed to capture one alien...
 ...of a particularly furry/friendly species.
And of course (as displayed by this blog), there were plenty of photos to remember the Cosmic Fair by.

Photos in space!

Photos in the air.

And photos by the lake.

Photos with friends.

One camper even offered...

To take a photo of the photographer.

And as the Cosmic Fair came to a close, we gathered around another campfire to get ready for some evening star gazing as the night got dark, and to learn more about where our new alien friends came from with some introductory astronomy lessons and fireside story-telling.
