Final New Class for the New Year - Disc Golf

We're building on the success of last year's addition of a recreation class, Lawn Games, with another new activity to enjoy on Camp...

We've been playing simple Frisbee golf at Camp for a long time (pick a tree in the distance. See who can hit it with a Frisbee with the fewest throws. Repeat).

Then things got more serious with the advent of the Well Shot, as staff and campers (and guests) alike tried the near-impossible, to throw a Frisbee from Founder's Rock straight into the Wishing Well on the other side of the flagstones. (It's only near-impossible. It's been accomplished 19 times. You don't even want to know how many times it's been attempted.)

Then, last season, we added Disc Golf to our Lawn Games class, utilizing an official Disc Catcher target, and it was a big hit for the campers. The final piece of the puzzle was when our counselor Tyler Eagan brought us a few Disc Golf drivers (we didn't even really know they existed) to play with, and then we were really off to the races and Camp caught the Disc Golf craze.

Now, for Summer '16, the class will teach campers to throw official Disc Golf discs for both distance and accuracy. They’ll get to work on these skills the best way possible, by spending several Camp morning actually playing this fun and competitive sport that anyone can enjoy.

Pretty impressive, T-Nivi.

BUT, one of the most exciting things about the class is that it will utilize (and introduce) Camp's brand-new Disc Golf course.

Wait, Camp's brand-new WHAT!?

Check back tomorrow for more news on our big facility improvement project for 2016.
