Summer is here for REAL!

Because the SENIOR STAFF...

Is here...

For REAL!

And we're so thrilled...

That they've joined us...

And we can all work together to jump-start Summer 2018!

Jump-start it with keys, and with radios...

And with a fair-share of laughing too much.

Senior Staff Training is like you'd expect!

There's a big board!

There's staring at the big board!

Thinking about the big board.

Writing on the big board!

And staring at the big board all over again.

But that's not all we do!

We also play Camp-y games!

"Wait.

With no campers...

And no counselors...

The (basically) fully-grown adult Senior Staff...

Spend the week playing a bunch of Camp-y games?"

That's exactly what we do. 

"Well, then...

I bet they're some of those Camp-y games...

That hold a whole bunch of leadership lessons...

And teach all sorts of really useful skills...

To help run an insanely successful summer camp...

All while having a blast in the woods...

And building a trusting and functioning team...

While you PLAY those Campy Games!"

Well. Yes. You have it right.

Those are precisely...

The kind of Camp-y games they are.

And take it from the Senior Staff of L.G. Cook 4-H Camp...

You haven't really learned leadership...

Until you've learned the lessons...

Involved in hitting an orange...

With hammer...

Over...

Over again...

And then...

Gathered around with your team...

To sit in a field...

And talk about it all night long.

Senior Staff Training Starts in 3 DAYS! And We've Still Got More Summer Staff to Meet!

Yes, summer starts many times here at Camp, but you can argue that one of the startiest times that it starts is Senior Staff Training, when our coordinators, our architects of the summer season arrive!

Folks like our NEW to Senior Staff, Quite OLD to the cabins, the craft shop, and Camp in general, our Creative Arts Coordinator...

And what does Senior Staff DO in Staff Training? 

Why, they prepare the program and the facility for the arrival of our COUNSELOR staff, folks like our brand-new to Camp and the cabins and our Environmental Education Department, our new counselor...

Folks traveling a LONG way to get to the serene waters of lovely Lake Shawanni, like our new Waterfront Counselor...

And folks who have been here FOREVER, (but just not the last year or two, but you know how it goes- you can't stay away from Summer Camp!) like or returning-from-a-little-while-ago Waterfront Counselor...

Making the Best Better: Food Survey!!!!

As you know so well, we think 4-H Camp is the best. (And we think it even more enthusiastically as the weather gets warmer and summer quickly approaches!)

But as you also know, what we all want to do with the best is make it ever better.

Last summer, 91.4 percent of our surveyed campers responded positively about the food at 4-H Camp. 91.4 percent is good! But, of course, we want it to be even better.

So we have created, for your filling-out pleasure, a FOOD SURVEY.

This is designed for LAST summer's campers who are attending THIS summer as well.

So if that's YOU or YOUR CHILD (a camper was here for Summer 2017 and looking forward to returning for Summer 2018), please fill out the following survey! 

Campers will be able to evaluate (to the best of the recollection) each meal from last season to help us plan this summer's menu, as well as answer some specific questions about what they might be hoping for from our Camp Kitchen in 2018.

Happy June! Happy Keep Meeting our Summer Staff!

Yes, we have finally arrived at JUNE! We've gone through the whole long, cold, non-summery off-season and finally reached JUNE, that month where summer really gets going, that month when all of the Staff of 2018 arrive!

Well, if it's June, and if the staff are showing up IN June, you'd be safe to assume that we have no more staff to keep meeting, right!? 

Wrong! 

That would be, in fact, a quite unsafe assumption.

Why?

Because we've got MORE Summer Staff to meet!

We've got out brand-new addition to our Health Department...




Our not-so-brand-new-because-he's-returning-to-our-cabins-and-forests-for-more, Environmental Education Counselor...

Our new to Camp, new to the U.S., journeying a long way to get here Kitchen Counselor...

And our old to Camp, Ruler of the Docks, Overseer of the Canoes, Keeper of the Kayaks,  Queen Of Lake Shawanni, Waterfront Coordinator...
