New for Nineteen: New at the Waterfront!

When last we left you cliff-hanging...

Many of you spotted exactly what was missing...

And the good news is that Lake Shawanni is missing its waterfront dock no longer!

The other good news is that it's a BRAND-NEW dock!

It's sturdy!

It's safe!

It's comfortable!

Its got ladders!

Same ol' 4-H Camp style...

Brand-new dock flavor.

And the other good news is...

That the Senior Staff just HAD to show up to check the new dock out!

Well, that and because it was time for them to arrive to start planning Summer Camp.

(That's where the new slide is going to go. It's on it's way. We promise.)

But the dock and the Senior Staff isn't all that's new at the waterfront...

We've also got new toys!

New toys?

New toys!

They're called Corcls!

They're like...

Circley kayaks!

Or...

Kayaky circles!

Whatever they are...

The Senior Staff just had to try them out too.

You can sit in 'em!

You can sit ON 'em!

You can dip your feet...

Play some games...

You can even...

Stand on up in 'em.

Or at least...

You can try...

To stand on up on 'em.

You might find it...

Easier said...

Than done.

The Senior Staff concluded that...

Whatever they are...

They're gonna be a ton of fun...

For our campers this summer.

And now that the Senior Staff is here, it won't be long at all...

Until we're welcoming those campers back...

To good ol' 4-H Camp...

And our new look waterfront.

New for Nineteen!

Summer is SO right around the corner, it's basically right NOW!

We're pretty much already around the corner with it, because Senior Staff shows up THIS WEEKEND!

To celebrate we want to share some what's new around the Camp facility for Summer 2019.

We always try to keep 4-H Camp just as good as it's always been - except for those couple things we try to make even better.

Things like...

Fans!

For cooling down the Dining Hall!
And more fans!

Ferns?

No, fans!

Roof fans on each cabin...

To help try to cut that beautiful summer heat, just a little bit.

And sheds!

Yes, sheds!

Cause campers can tell HOW fun their summer camp will be...
By how many SHEDS they have.

New things like new lights!

Yes, brand-new Dining Hall lights!

All the better to SEE the place with!

New things like flowering Mountain Laurel!

Okay, that's not really a new thing.

But it's a pretty thing and I thought you'd like it.

New things like portable plastic benches!

To turn our Rec-Hall into a rain day theatre.

(Don't worry. I'm sure it won't rain THIS summer.)

But if it does we've got benches!

New things like new picnic tables!

Cause science has proven you can't have too many picnic tables.

And new things like sparkly new archery targets!

Though since archery is one of our most popular programs...

Once 30 campers take shots at these three class periods a day, all summer long...

They might be slightly less pristine.

We think all these little things add up to 4-H Camp being in great shape to welcome the campers of Summer 2019.

But sometimes, in addition to little new things, we like BIG new things too.

We're going to leave what the big new things are as a cliffhanger...

But...

Here's a clue:

What's missing?

It's Finally June! So We Better Finally KEEP MEETING THE SUMMER STAFF!!!

Today, we've got a trio of returning counselors to be re-introduced to!

Like Nicol!

Camp Super Power – Being Scottish and not letting anyone forget it. Us Scots don’t get out very often but when we do, we tell everyone… constantly. One of the reasons I was released from Scotland was that I enjoy seeing people happy and laughing. Also because myself and my family are from Scotland I have my own family coat of arms, tartan and clan crest.

Camp Goals – My aim is for camp to be the most chilled out but exciting experience for everyone and anyone and also for it to be a safe and nurturing place for people to learn about nature, friendships and Scotland (sorry). My experience of camp last year was increadible and if I could have captured that and put it in a bottle and mass produced it I would be rich. But alas I’m still a student and still in debt. Guess I’ll have to make it my goal to make sure camp is bigger and better than last year so watch out Woodrow I'm coming back for you.

Role at Camp – I am a recreation counsellor so if you are involved in any activities that require bows, disks, walking, talking, throwing assorted objects etc, you’ll probably bump into me.

Animal – I identify alot with sloths. They are slow and methodical and spend a lot of time eating. I would also like you to meet ‘the haggis’* a beautiful creature that roams the Scottish countryside. Few have seen one as they are so rare. if you do find one, they are very delicious.

Can’t wait to see all of you who are returning and to those joining us for the first time, welcome to the best summer of your lives.

 Like Shanna!

My role at camp is an E.E. counselor!

My animal relates to my camp super power. Raccoons are adorable and goofy creatures, and love to forage in human trash. That is my super power! I love finding uses for random garbage that people would usually throw away, and this is particularly helpful for camp! I will always welcome seemingly useless junk with open arms and turn it into something somewhat less useless.

My camp goal is to live in the moment and make everyday at camp count.

And like Aran!

(Note- Director's Interpretation of Coat Of Arms:) Aran's Camp Super Power is to pose in front of the sun! You'll be able to find him striking all sorts of stances backlit by the sun's warm glowing rays all over 4-H Camp, all summer long. His goal for the season is to wear fine, tailored business suits and point at his own wrist. His role at Camp is to make graphics representing archery targets. For obvious reasons, the animals that represent him best are yaks and cartoon characters.

Bonus! Nicol wanted to share to some scientific info on some creatures indigenous to his homeland:
