Home Away From Home. At Home.

While nothing can compare to a week away in the woods at Camp, our staff are pulling out all the stops to send out a little Camp Spirit to our campers who need it the most with our new virtual HAFHAH Program.

It will include cabin meetings and bonding, goofy at home versions of all our favorite Camp activities, big evening programs, a care package full of Camp activities, and it'll even build to an in-person weekend retreat here at 4-H Camp (eventually.)

Most of all it includes some of your favorite counselors, staff, and people.

Space is limited! Call the Camp Office (973-948-3550x21) for more details!

Registration is currently open ONLY to campers who were already enrolled for a week of 4-H Camp - but we'll be opening registration to all soon.

Announcement: July Sessions

This is a post with unfortunate, but probably some-what predictable, news. We will be canceling our July 4-H Summer Camp sessions (#1-#4) at this point.

As we say in Staff Training, “if safety isn’t our number one priority, it doesn’t matter what the rest of our priorities are.” We would never offer a summer camp experience that is not safe before all else.

As the state slowly moves along with the reopening process, it has become clear that a large group of us congregating and living together here at 4-H Camp will not be possible by early July. We anticipate this decision will be mandated by the State and Department of Health, either because overnight summer camps are not being issued permits or because proposed safety measures would not be feasible in our communal facility.

(Depending on the health situation in New Jersey and broad decisions around education, we are still holding out hope for the possibility of on-site camping sessions in August. However, as I’m sure you’re aware, there is of course a very good chance our August sessions will not be able to run either. We’ll be in touch when we have a better idea about what late summer will look like – probably sometime in June.)

We know this is going to be disappointing for some of our campers and heartbreaking for others. (It’s already been both of those things for our staff.) We're sure that breaking the news to your campers will most likely be a tough conversation.

For our CIT II campers who were set to age out in Summer 2020 – we will find a way to get them their final week as a camper – be it later this summer, next year, or somewhere in between.

We’re still endeavoring to provide our campers with some Camp spirit and Camp connection even when they can’t be here in person. We’ve been hard at work with over fifty 4-H Camp volunteers crafting a virtual camp program. Like the best parts of 4-H Camp, it’s based on interaction, community, humor and support. It’s called 4-H Camp HAFHAH. (Home Away from Home At Home, of course.) Learn more here!  (There is limited space available.)

If you're currently signed up for Summer 2020, the best way to sustain 4-H Camp for summers to come AND have your camper join this (hopefully) once in lifetime virtual camp program is to transfer a portion of your Summer Camp 2020 fees to the HAFHAH program. We also have the option to help support Camp by crediting to a future season, or the option for a refund. At your convenience, please fill out this online form to let us know how you’d like to handle your payments for the 2020 season.

Meanwhile, we will be busy planning for and dreaming of the time we can all safely and happily be here at 4-H Camp again.
