(As July moves along, so does the inaugural season of our new 4-H Camp at Rutgers Gardens program! Here's some highlights from last week's Session #3!)
We had another great week here at 4-H Camp at Rutgers Gardens!
As we welcomed all of our new campers, |
We were super excited to get on with our Monday
Until we had a surprise stop from an interesting visitor...
and his pet Shnukums.
While we were busy in our cabin meetings
Shnukums ate the camp spirit!
So together we had to create some more
By going on a Gardens wide scavenger hunt
to collect the necessary materials
And capture back the spirit
From all of the magical places we visit throughout the week
After our scavenger hunt we were able to continue with the rest of our week as normal
Painting pots and planting our seeds
Getting crafty with some of the natural materials around us
Playing some brand new
Never-before-seen
Creative and wacky games
during our bamboo forest time
Hiking in Helyar Woods
And learning from University Experts each day
With our
Student Farm Tour
Grounds and Gardens Tour
At our Display Garden
And Rain Garden
Our Bat and Wildlife Workshop
With RU Wildlife Biologists
And our Nutrition Vegetable Showdown
Throughout the days
as we tried new things
Learned new skills
And played outside
We got to know each other
Made new friends
And built a community
In our cabins
And as a camp
Finally bringing us to our last day
Where we got to do some shopping
at Cook’s market
And play our favorite
All camp game
Predator
Versus
Prey
After a long week
Of playing outside
Exploring
Learning
And creating new things
We called Session 3
To a close
With our closing ceremony
Where we had a little reflection on our week
And came together as a community
One last time.
