Yes, it is still plenty cold, it is still plenty wintry, and it is still going to be that way for a while...but REGARDLESS, we've got our first all-the-way-all-filled-up-all-sold-out summer session for 2019!
Yes, we're starting at the end! Our campers know that the last week of the summer is always a special one for both the kids and staff here at 4-H Camp, so we think the end is a great place to begin with our first completely full roster for the summer.
However, our campers also know that ALL the weeks of the summer are special ones for the kids and staff at 4-H Camp, cause all our sessions are starting to fill up, cause...
These updates are to simultaneously celebrate our full rosters to get everyone pumped and excited for Summer 2019, and to remind Camp Families who haven't yet gotten their bunks to do so ASAP!
Stay warm by dreaming of summer!

Dispatches from the Frozen Forest
One of the many responsibilities... |
Of this here trusty Summer Camp blog... |
Is to show off, at regular intervals, for all to see... |
Exactly what Camp looks like... |
When it's the opposite of summer time. |
And yesterday, it was about as opposite of summer time... |
As it gets. |
Cause we often show you pictures of when it's not many degrees, when it's only a few degrees... |
But yesterday it was virtually... |
No degrees! |
What's it like here when it's no degrees? |
Well, |
Everything is very still. |
Everything is very quiet. |
Everything is encased in ice. |
And your dog isn't even all that happy to be out on a walk. |
I think we can all agree with him! |
Some degrees are better than no degrees! |
So if there is a particularly hot day this summer... |
When you might think it's TOO MANY degrees... |
We should all just remember to be happy... |
That it's any degrees at all. |
Especially... |
When the sun goes down, and it's even less degrees than none. |
All though, a no degree evening with a crystal clear full moon spotlight... |
Shining off a sub-zero Lake Shawanni... |
Isn't entirely without it's benefits either. |

Just January, But Summer is Filling Up!
Yes, it's mid-January! |
Yes, it's as mid-winter as mid-winter gets! |
Yes, it's cold! |
Yes, it's snowy! |
Yes, it's icy! |
Like on the lake, it's particularly icy! |
It's so icy, it's just ice.
|
And yes:
|
Summer is heating up anyway! |
Registrations are rolling in, sessions are filling up... |
(In fact, we are already SOLD-OUT for females for Session #7...and a few other sections are right behind it...) |
So if you're planning on joining us for Summer 2019 and haven't signed up yet... |
(Or if you're planning on referring a brand-new camper to join our Lantern Program...) |
We encourage you to sign up now! Or soon. ish. |
We're still in our EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION period, so all registrations before March 15th will automatically receive a $50 discount off full summer pricing.
Enjoy the winter, but plan for summer!

Camp History Project: More Where That Came From...
There's a lot we love at Camp, but it's hard to think of something we love even more than storytelling. Stories around the campfire, stories passed between the bunks, stories told on Vespers Island, we can't get enough of storytelling...especially when it's our own story.
Last month we showed off the first exhibit of our Camp History Project, and part of the beginning of that story.
Now, we're using the start of the new year to look back at some OLD years, and have begun to sift through just a few documents we've stumbled across in storage...

Yup. |
Just... |
A... |
Few. |
We're finding all sorts of great stuff... |
That tells the tale of how 4-H Camp went from being just a dream... |
To the reality we all enjoy together today. |
It's a tale we're looking forward to sharing with you... |
...After we do a lot more sifting. |
